MJS Design + Build President, Michael Smeets, began working for his family's remodeling business at an early age in Northern Illinois. It was there he developed his strong work ethic and comprehensive construction knowledge. He left Illinois and the construction business to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to focus on Mechanical Design. After working as an engineer for over a decade, his desire to meld his creative and technical talents became the impetus to launch MJS Design+Build. Michael remains the primary client contact and is intimately involved with every project.

MJS Design + Build was founded in 2002 with the goal of bringing creative design and quality craftsmanship together. We want our passion for homebuilding to transform the way people live. Listening to our clients' priorities and dreams enables us to craft a project that meets those goals. Every client brings something different to the table, which is important to us. What we bring is the ability to mold sometimes disparate ideas into something cohesive and attractive that will stand the test of time.
